Job Summary:
The Campus loading dock supports all Campus tenants, hotel properties, production and entertainment facilities with daily deliveries of food and beverage, materials and supplies, and stage equipment. In addition, it manages the waste stream and trash removal.
The position of Dock Expeditor is to support the management/operation of loading dock activities. This is a position that requires problem-solving skills, diligent attention to detail and being proactive in resolving issues as they arise. The loading dock is a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation and involves working directly with delivery drivers, restaurant back of house staff, technical and show support crews, and venue management to ensure all deliveries arrive and are unloaded or loaded on schedule and efficiently. The position involves physical fitness, lifting, operating a forklift, and communicating via email and telephonically. It is responsible for ensuring that all safety procedures are followed by delivery drivers and personnel using the loading dock.
Essential Functions:
- Control truck traffic, dock access and movement of supplies, deliveries, and equipment into and out of the Campus loading dock areas. Maintain efficiency of the Campus dock operation through coordination with Campus security, engineering, third party vendors, tenant and hotel management personnel.
- Monitor, report and assist with maintaining safety and functionality of all service areas, to include A & B building service corridors, service elevators and foyers, in accordance with directives issued by Dock Master. Must be proactive in inspecting work areas for damage or inefficiencies and reporting to appropriate Manager.
- Ensure tenants and vendors operate in accordance with all policies pertaining to the loading dock, as issued by Campus management.
- Assist the Dock Master with assigned duties.
- Communicate and problem solve access issues in a professional manner and maintain productive and supportive relationships with Campus tenants, third party vendors, security, engineering and hotel teams.
- Provide operational support to all departments of Campus Operations. Assist with emergency situations as needed.
- Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed and report any issues to Campus management.
- Maintain cleanliness in the back of house areas, removing waste materials, pallets, food compost, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or its equivalency.
- Proficient in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.)
- Must have two (2) years related work experience.
- Previous experience in event production and logistics
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (in person, on-line and by phone)
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time of up to 6 hours with or without accommodations.
- Must be able to lift/carry/pull/push up to 35lbs.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating various units of heavy equipment (Boom lift, Scissor lift, Variable Reach lift) preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish
Pay Scale: $24.50 per hour
Bonus: This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
