Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients in the Structural Heart ProgramOutpatient clinic for patients pre- and post-structural heart procedures Inpatient rounding and consults for the Structural Heart Team Completes comprehensive patient assessments. Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness. Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician. Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment. Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care. Refers for specialty care when determined. Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care teamPromotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff. Acts as resource to members of the team. Works with primary care team for program development. Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed. Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse program

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiology experience as an APP
• New graduates may be considered. Minimum 2 years experience in cardiology or ICU

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Physical Demands

• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $56.48 to $78.15 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
