Software Development Manager, Devices Sales & Customer Experience (DCSX)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Development Manager to drive our Devices Sales and Customer Experience Tech Team in Mexico City. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building and managing a team of engineers and delivering on our programs. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive experience in building high-performing teams and launching scalable and resilient systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will own the end-to-end technical delivery for your team — from setting architectural direction and driving operational excellence to growing engineering talent and partnering with product and business stakeholders across the Devices organization. This role requires a leader who can balance strategic technical vision with hands-on execution, navigate ambiguity, and build a culture of innovation and inclusion.

About Us: The Device Sales and Customer Experience (DSCX) organization plays a pivotal role in driving the success of Devices and Services, including Amazon Echo & Alexa products, Fire Tablets, Kindle E-readers, Fire TV products, and more. At the core of our responsibilities is the onsite shopping experience, where the team owns the worldwide technology powering detailed product pages. We also manage the installments and trade-in/pre-owned businesses, ensuring a seamless customer journey. Our focus is on driving incremental sales through enhanced installment experiences for devices, personalization, multivariate testing, and trade-in options. This helps maximize revenue opportunities and caters to diverse customer preferences. Beyond the onsite experience, we are responsible for creating a best-in-class experience for trade-in programs, including developing an engaging and user-friendly interface to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. To streamline operations, we oversee marketing automation, improving efficiency and reducing manual workloads. We also own data services, ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering comprehensive cross-product line and cross-channel analytics. This data-driven approach empowers us to make informed decisions and optimize our offerings.
Key job responsibilities - Team Management: Build and nurture a high-performing organization through effective hiring, retention, performance management, mentoring, and skills development. - Architectural Oversight: Drive the architecture, design, implementation, and operational support of critical tools and services that align with our mission. - Risk Assessment: Evaluate complex business and technical requirements, communicating inherent risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Project Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project deliverables, managing expectations, priorities, and collaboration among teams. - Standards and Processes: Establish high standards for processes and execution in all projects to ensure quality and efficiency.
A day in the life As an SDM on the DSCX team, you'll start your day reviewing sprint progress and unblocking your engineers. You'll partner with product managers to refine requirements, lead design reviews, and drive operational excellence across your services. You'll collaborate with global stakeholders across Devices to align on priorities, and dedicate time to 1:1s, mentoring, and career development for your team members.
About the team We are a global organization dedicated to developing platforms and programs that elevate device sales and customer engagement across e-commerce channels. As the technical arm of the Devices Online Sales and Marketing group, our mission is to build systems that help customers discover, choose, purchase, and use Amazon Devices. Our multidisciplinary team of designers, researchers, product and tech collaborates to envision, create, and implement innovative solutions from concept to delivery. As a Software Development Manager, you will foster a culture of innovation, encouraging cross-team partnerships to drive impactful results while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of engineering experience - 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Knowledge of a modern programming language (Ruby, Java, Python, or C#)
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers - Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
