AMD

Secaucus, New Jersey, United States

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career. THE ROLE: We are seeking an Engineering Lab Supervisor to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting advanced server system testing and validation. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with early engineering samples and cutting-edge CPU, GPU, networking, and server technologies before they reach customers or the broader market. In this role, you will oversee engineering activities across five specialized laboratories supporting environmental, thermal, mechanical, failure analysis, transportation, and EMI/EMC testing. You will lead a team of engineers from multiple technical disciplines while partnering with lab operations, warehouse, facilities, and site leadership to ensure testing is completed safely, efficiently, and successfully. This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where engineering projects and experiments may operate continuously. The role is primarily Monday through Friday during standard business hours; however, occasional after-hours or weekend support may be needed to coordinate the response to critical testing or equipment issues. THE PERSON: The successful candidate is a self-motivated and solutions-oriented leader who takes ownership of projects and can operate with limited oversight. You are comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities, and bringing forward potential solutions when challenges arise. You are an effective communicator who enjoys working across engineering disciplines and building strong relationships with technical teams, customers, and operational partners. You do not need to be an expert in every laboratory discipline, but you should be curious, adaptable, and willing to learn from subject-matter experts. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic environment, knows when to escalate an issue, and can remain organized and responsive when supporting time-sensitive engineering activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of approximately seven to eight engineers responsible for specialized laboratory testing and engineering activities. Oversee daily engineering operations across multiple laboratories, including thermal and environmental testing, mechanical shock and vibration testing, failure analysis, and EMI/EMC testing. Coordinate server and rack-level testing activities, schedules, resources, equipment maintenance, and customer deliverables. Partner with laboratory, warehouse, operations, and site managers to secure the people, equipment, space, and logistical support needed for successful testing. Monitor active experiments and testing programs, respond to technical issues, and coordinate troubleshooting, triage, root-cause analysis, and customer reporting. Ensure engineers are supported, trained, and equipped to execute testing safely and effectively. Review upcoming products and technology needs to ensure the laboratories have the capabilities and equipment necessary to support future testing. Help improve laboratory processes, scheduling, workflows, and operational efficiency, including the thoughtful use of AI-enabled tools and agents. During the first 30 days, learn the laboratory environment, equipment, team structure, key projects, and partner organizations. Within approximately 60 days, begin taking ownership of laboratory operations, schedules, projects, and stakeholder relationships. Within approximately 90 days, operate with increasing independence while continuing to develop familiarity with less-frequent testing scenarios and specialized equipment. Provide occasional after-hours or weekend coordination when critical engineering experiments or laboratory systems require attention. Support occasional business travel, generally less than 10%, for relevant events or collaboration with other locations. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience leading or supervising engineering teams in a laboratory, server, hardware, systems, or product-validation environment. Knowledge of server systems, racks, board-level hardware, and system-level engineering concepts. Familiarity with server hardware debugging, technical triage, and root-cause analysis. Understanding of Linux operating environments. Exposure to server cooling methods, including air cooling, liquid cooling, or immersion cooling. Experience supporting engineering testing, laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, or product validation. Familiarity with one or more specialized testing areas, such as thermal and environmental testing, shock and vibration, failure analysis, or EMI/EMC testing. Ability to coordinate projects and resources across engineering, laboratory operations, warehousing, and other site functions. Experience supporting customer-facing engineering activities, test scheduling, technical reporting, or workflow management. Interest in using AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation to improve process management, scheduling, workflows, and operational efficiency. Openness to learning technical disciplines outside of one’s primary area of expertise. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. LOCATION: Secaucus, New Jersey This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. #LI-CS1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance. AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
