Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answers telephone and routes calls to employees
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail
- Types routine correspondence such as letters, memos and reports
- Files and maintains records, agreements or purchase orders
- Delivers and retrieves documents from County offices
- Provides administrative assistance to department staff
- May obtain authorization signatures for documents such as purchase requisitions
- Enters and updates citations issued by DPS Troopers onto the Bexar County Brazos Tech system. Answers telephone calls from District Attorney’s Office, JP Courts, Probation Officers, and citizens. Maintains case files
- Uploads arrests and At-Large documents and videos to Bexar County Evidence Ingestion System (BexarEIS)
- Files and maintains employee records and weekly/monthly reports. Handles crash report payments and processes requests via Crash Records Information System (C.R.I.S.)
- May calculate and accept fees for open records requests
- Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year general office and administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of basic office procedures; good knowledge of word processing
- Skill in filing and organization of material; skill in operating personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain records; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the public
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
