Summary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare or direct preparation of food to be served complying with applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures;
• Responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud;
• Supervises residents assigned to work kitchen detail;
• Responsible for insuring kitchen and dining areas are cleaned after each meal.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff personnel; follow written and verbal instructions; and communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• General knowledge of meal planning and food preparation;
• General knowledge necessary to safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment and machines (including but not limited to: oven, stove, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and knives) used in the performance of this job.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required;
• One (1) year experience in food service positions required;
• Must obtain Health Department Food Handling license or card.
• Completion of the Residential Staff Certification Course within 1 year of assignment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Includes lifting/carrying from 10 lbs. to 30 lbs. occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand an eye
• coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
• Subject to sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting and handling to perform the essential job functions.
• Applicant must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license.
• Applicant must pass and maintain a favorable criminal background check.
• Applicant must clear a pre-employment physical and urinalysis test.
