Job Overview

The Interim Choir Director and Organist will serve Roman Catholic Life as a staff member on the main campus by providing leadership and expertise in musical worship. The Interim Director will direct the student Chapel Choir for weekly Roman Catholic worship services and special University Masses. As a pastoral minister, the Interim Director will work with students to help them understand their role as part of the faith community on campus and to develop their leadership skills for future ministry.

Work Interactions

The Interim Director is a member of the Catholic Chaplaincy, works in collaboration with the Director of Liturgy, the Associate Director of Catholic Life, and reports to the Director of Catholic Life. The Interim Director will work in collaboration with other Catholic chaplains and staff. This position involves an active collaboration with priests, administrative staff, and students, and requires the ability to work within a pluralistic environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in music (M.M. preferred) with a secondary expertise in theology, or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience in Roman Catholic liturgical music with at least two to four years of experience leading music for worship in the Roman Catholic Church. Chapel has Schoenstein Pipe Organ (2014) and Yamaha grand piano.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
