In This Role

In this role, you’ll work as a hands-on software engineer building and evolving next-generation systems and AI-powered engineering capabilities. You’ll spend the majority of your time developing software, primarily in Python, while working across systems software, Windows development, automation, developer tools, virtualization, AI/LLMs, and cloud infrastructure. You’ll have the opportunity to turn research ideas and experiments into practical engineering solutions, including AI-powered software engineering, agentic systems, automated testing, program analysis, and scalable engineering platforms. This is an environment where adaptability, strong software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to work through ambiguity are important as you explore new technologies and solve complex engineering problems. The position is onsite in the Puget Sound, WA area and involves close collaboration with other engineers and researchers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, debug, and maintain software across systems, developer platforms, and AI-powered engineering environments.
• Develop software primarily using Python, C/C++, and PowerShell, with opportunities to work with Rust or C#.
• Build and improve software for Windows operating systems, systems infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud environments.
• Develop automation that improves software engineering, testing, debugging, and developer workflows.
• Build tools and services that integrate AI and large language models with source code, engineering data, tests, logs, and system telemetry.
• Explore and develop solutions involving AI-powered software engineering, agentic systems, automated code generation, test generation, debugging, and program analysis.
• Work with Azure, virtual machines, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems to develop scalable engineering solutions.
• Perform in-depth troubleshooting, unit testing, problem diagnosis, and resolution across new and legacy production systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to turn research concepts and experimental ideas into practical, scalable software solutions.
• Work across technology boundaries, learn new technologies, and contribute to next-generation engineering platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and software design. Hands-on experience developing software using Python and C/C++. Experience with Windows operating systems development, testing, and debugging. Experience troubleshooting complex software or systems issues and performing effective problem diagnosis and resolution. Experience with unit testing and debugging in new and/or legacy production environments. Experience designing and developing software for large or complex systems. Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and translate technical or research concepts into practical engineering solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell, Rust, or C#.
• Experience with AI/LLMs, agentic systems, or AI-powered developer tools.
• Experience with automated code generation, test generation, program analysis, or developer productivity tooling.
• Experience integrating software with source code, engineering data, logs, tests, or system telemetry.
• Experience with Azure, virtual machines, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Experience with virtualization or systems-level software development.
• Experience building engineering automation or developer tools.
• Experience working in research-oriented or highly exploratory software engineering environments.

Salary Range

At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market.

For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $100,000-$110,000 USD annually. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
