Job Description
Campbellsville University is seeking a motivated and qualified Assistant Coach for Women’s Wrestling to support the continued development and success of the university’s women’s wrestling program.
The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting. The position will assist with recruiting strategy, identification and evaluation of prospective student-athletes, communication and relationship-building, recruiting events, and follow-up. The ideal candidate will have a strong wrestling background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to recruit student-athletes who align with the mission and values of Campbellsville University.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with the overall recruiting strategy and execution for the women’s wrestling program.
- Identify, evaluate, communicate with, and build relationships with prospective student-athletes, coaches, families, clubs, high schools, colleges, and wrestling programs.
- Assist with recruiting visits, tournaments, showcases, camps, campus visits, and other recruiting events.
- Maintain recruiting information, evaluations, communications, and follow-up in collaboration with the Head Coach.
- Assist with practices, competitions, training, and student-athlete development, including instruction in wrestling technique, strategy, conditioning, and competition preparation.
- Assist with team travel, transportation, scheduling, equipment, facilities, and other day-to-day program responsibilities.
- Support student-athletes in their academic, personal, and athletic development.
- Represent Campbellsville University and the women’s wrestling program in a professional manner.
- Comply with all Campbellsville University, conference, and applicable governing-body rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or appropriate university personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- High-level wrestling background and/or coaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of wrestling technique, competition, athlete development, and freestyle and/or Greco-Roman wrestling knowledge/experience.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, communicate effectively, and build positive relationships with prospective student-athletes.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach while taking initiative and managing assigned responsibilities independently.
- Willingness to travel regularly and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the wrestling program.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all university requirements for operating university vehicles.
- Successful completion of required university background checks and other employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Collegiate wrestling experience.
- Previous collegiate, high school, or club coaching experience.
- Demonstrated recruiting experience.
- Established relationships within the wrestling community, including clubs, high schools, colleges, and wrestling organizations.
- Experience working with or recruiting women’s wrestlers.
