Summary

Responsible for day-to-day planning and maintenance of the childcare program. Works collaboratively to develop all special programming for childcare services. Ensures that proper accreditation programs, safety procedures, and stimuli for babies and children are present. Overall program delivery and communication to the members regarding the program are responsibilities of this position. Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to members to ensure retention.

Major Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:

  • Oversees the delivery, care, and drop off and pickup of all children in the childcare area and assure that they have a safe and enjoyable experience
  • Develops, plans, and maintains necessary documentation to assure that risk management and safety are addressed throughout the childcare area
  • Keeps all playrooms clean, neat, and safe for children
  • Disinfects all toys at the end of the shift
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors the sign-in and sign-out procedure for all children
  • Works with the Member Services Coordinator and Childcare Leader to ensure that all information regarding childcare is released through proper verbal/written communication in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Knowledgeable of all emergency procedures
  • Cross-trained in efficiently delivering all front desk operations, including juice bar, pro-shop, and laundry in order to support front desk efforts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Certification in basic life support and first aid required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in working with children in a monitored setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Skills and knowledge to conduct safe individual and group activities with children
  • Strong observation and intervention skills with children and parents
  • Technical expertise to develop and create an enjoyable and safe environment for children
  • Proficient in interpersonal communication
  • Verbal communication skills to allow for calm communication with children and parents
  • Knowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson’s Model) in order to provide appropriate care and intervention, either personally or through staff

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical conditioning necessary to lift and carry babies and children weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of various objects
  • Ability to visually observe children in the childcare rooms
