Job Description

The department of Human Development and Family Studies is seeking an hourly exercise facilitator for the Adolescent Wellness Laboratory. The exercise facilitator runs approximately two exercise sessions a week with our adolescent study participants. The sessions run 1 hour and 15 minutes and take place during the evening. The exercise facilitator leads research participants in moderate-intensity aerobic exercises, resistance training, and teaches them how to incorporate regular physical movement into their daily lives.

This is a part-time position with varying weekly hours up to 19 hours per week.

Pay Rate Range:

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead adolescent study participants in structured exercise sessions according to the CBTeX research study protocol, ensuring consistent delivery of the intervention.
  • Monitor participants during exercise sessions and provide appropriate exercise modifications based on ability, heart rate, perceived exertion, and response to exercise to support safe participation and weekly progression.
  • Review mood monitoring forms completed by participants before each exercise session and conduct risk assessments according to study procedures when participant responses indicate potential safety concerns.
  • Reschedule and facilitate virtual make up exercise sessions with study participants to support intervention attendance and adherence.
  • Support study data collection and entry by ensuring exercise session data, participant measures, and other required documentation are collected accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Communicate relevant participant concerns, safety issues, protocol deviations, or other issues identified during exercise sessions to appropriate study staff and supervisors according to study procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of study implementation and participant engagement.

Conditions of Employment:

Pre-employment Background Check (for all new hires).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Human Development and Family studies or related field.
  • At least one year of research experience.
  • Group Fitness Instruction Certification (ACE).
  • Must be able to complete full exercise sessions with participants.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading group fitness.
  • Experience working with adolescents.
