The range for this role is $103,000 - $148,500
Actual base pay will be determined based on a successful candidate's work skills/abilities, experience, and education.
Interested applicants must be willing and able to work onsite full time in either our Melbourne, FL headquarters.

The Job
The Associate General Counsel provides general legal support and advice for Christian Care Ministry (“CCM”) and its subsidiaries through timely and thoughtful legal counsel to executives and staff. This role develops and issues guidance in service to Ministry programs and other activities and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, edit, and execute a variety of contracts and other agreements
- Prepare legal communications
- Conduct legal research and analyze legal issues that affect the Ministry and its activities at the local, state, federal and international levels; and prepare findings, recommendations, templates, and plans to effectively advise the Ministry
- Stay up to date with, and advise staff on laws applicable to nonprofit entities, healthcare sharing ministries, association of churches, IRS lobbying, and the like
- Manage legal projects and collaborate with other teams on organization-wide projects
- Provide data collection/analysis of government affairs matters, including administrative work, research, grassroots support, and more (support Director, Government Affairs)
- Collect and support various annual state reporting submissions
- Provide legal support to compliance audits/inquiries
- Develop/implement compliance monitoring, risk assessment, reporting, testing, and tracking
- Train and educate business leaders on evolving compliance-related subjects
- Contribute to the exercise and expression of Christian Care Ministry’s Christian beliefs
- All other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and currently licensed to practice law in at least one State required
- 5+ years’ experience as in-house, corporate, or counsel experience in a corporate setting required, preferably within a healthcare or healthcare payer industry
- License in Florida within 12 months of hire through examination, reciprocity or registered as in-house counsel required
- Working knowledge of the legal rules that apply to tax-exempt organizations along with strong generalist experience at a law firm or in-house working for a non-profit entity preferred
- A demonstrated commitment to nonprofits is highly desirable
