Cleveland Clinic’s G81 ENT/Plastics & Internal Medicine Unit is a dynamic, dual-service unit comprised of an 8-bed ENT/Plastics specialty stepdown and a 24-bed Internal Medicine unit. The patient population spans a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions, including head and neck cancer, complex surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis, and multi-system organ failure. Caregivers are cross-trained to float between both services, providing a unique practice environment that blends high-acuity internal medicine with critical care–level surgical management.

A caregiver in this role works nights| 7:00pm—7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
