By applying advanced analytics, carrier profitability modeling, zone-skipping strategies, and AI-powered optimization, this role reduces single-carrier risk, drives cost savings, and scales logistics operations efficiently. This role enables Comfrt's D2C expansion across new markets and channels while maintaining service excellence, sustainability commitments, and unit economics.

Outbound logistics is the final mile of Comfrt's customer promise and directly impacts both customer satisfaction and margins. This role translates strategic revenue and margin targets into practical carrier network design, rate contracts, and operational execution. By managing multi-carrier contingency, optimizing parcel economics through dimensional weight reduction, implementing sustainable packaging innovations, and maintaining service level commitments, this role builds a scalable operating model that supports rapid expansion without service or cost surprises. This role is critical to Comfrt's competitive positioning in D2C and multi-channel fulfillment markets.

  • Develop and execute multi-carrier strategy to reduce single-carrier dependency; evaluate zone-skipping opportunities and regional carrier partnerships to create competitive tension and drive cost savings (15%+ year-over-year target)
  • Implement real-time tracking and exception management; proactively address service failures, damage claims, and billing discrepancies to maintain on-time delivery, low damage rates, and accurate cost accountability
  • Evaluate emerging carriers and alternative fulfillment models (regional operators, marketplace logistics, drop-ship partners) to support new market entry with optimized cost and service profiles
  • Build carrier compliance framework for documentation, proof of delivery, billing accuracy, and claims management; monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact
  • Partner with finance and legal on carrier contracts, insurance requirements, liability frameworks, and performance guarantees

Parcel & Package Optimization with Dimensional Weight & Sustainability Focus [35%]

  • Own end-to-end packaging strategy to minimize dimensional weight charges and maximize sustainability; lead cross-functional initiatives with product, merchandising, and operations to right-size packaging by category, destination, and service level
  • Drive packaging innovation programs: right-sizing, lightweight materials, alternative substrates, protective design innovations; measure ROI on cost savings and environmental impact (target: 10%+ reduction in dimensional weight charges)
  • Implement rate shopping and parcel optimization algorithms; leverage TMS, parcel engine, and OMS/WMS integration to route shipments through lowest-cost carriers while maintaining service commitments and customer expectations
  • Analyze and manage parcel data analytics: average weight per order, dimensional factors, package size distribution, cost per unit by service level/zone/carrier; identify and prioritize optimization opportunities
  • Develop package size selection rules and small package vs. LTL vs. freight decision trees; optimize service level and carrier selection based on shipment characteristics, destination, and cost modeling
  • Execute sustainability initiatives: drive adoption of carbon-neutral carriers, electric vehicle partnerships, and alternative fuel logistics providers; align outbound operations with Comfrt's ESG commitments and brand positioning
  • Leverage route optimization software and AI-powered recommendations to continuously improve parcel economics; stay current on emerging technologies for last-mile delivery optimization

Data Analytics, Business Intelligence & Cost Management [15%]

  • Build and maintain advanced outbound shipping scorecard with KPIs: on-time delivery rate, damage/exception rates, cost per unit (by service level/channel/zone/carrier), dimensional weight charges, carrier compliance metrics, customer satisfaction
  • Deliver weekly/monthly business reviews and dashboards using data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau); identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities; communicate trade-offs clearly to cross-functional leaders
  • Analyze outbound shipping costs by multiple dimensions (channel, category, destination, carrier); build predictive data models to forecast spend, support growth planning, and evaluate strategic scenarios
  • Apply data analytics and basic ML concepts to identify root causes in parcel network operations (e.g., regional allocation inefficiencies, rate structure optimization, consolidation opportunities, carrier performance gaps)
  • Lead process automation and system optimization in TMS, parcel management platforms, OMS/WMS integration, and billing systems; eliminate manual touchpoints and improve data accuracy
  • Manage outbound logistics budget; track carrier spend, packaging costs, dimensional weight charges, and accessorial fees; forecast and model spend for new launches, peak seasons, and growth scenarios

New Market & Channel Launch Support [10%]

  • Support new market entry launches (geographies, sales channels, international) by designing carrier network, establishing service level commitments, and defining logistics KPIs
  • Evaluate last-mile and final-mile requirements for new markets; assess carrier coverage, service levels, cost-to-serve, sustainability credentials, and regional expansion opportunities
  • Work with product and operations teams to set realistic ship date commitments and service level expectations based on carrier network capabilities; translate logistics constraints into product and pricing strategy
  • Stand up fulfillment flows for new channels (marketplace, B2B, subscription, international); optimize routing and carrier selection for each channel's unique economics and customer expectations

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of direct experience in outbound logistics, parcel optimization, carrier management, or supply chain at high-growth D2C, retail, or e-commerce; proven track record delivering 15%+ cost savings through carrier optimization
