Job Description:

What You’ll Do

• Microservices & System Implementation: Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance software systems and RESTful APIs in modern Java, actively decomposing monolithic patterns into modular microservices architectures.
• Event-Driven Communication: Implement and optimize inter-service messaging and streaming workflows leveraging Apache Kafka as the core messaging infrastructure.
• Technical Solutioning & Product Alignment: Partner closely with Technical Project Managers (TPMs), Business Managers, Product Managers, and UX Engineers to translate business concepts and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) into clear technical specifications and robust code.
• AI Discipline & Engineering Acceleration: Champion Cotality’s AI-first engineering culture by actively integrating AI assistance tools (such as GitHub Copilot and Claude) and agentic workflows into the SDLC to maximize development velocity, testing coverage, and code quality.
• Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) Compliance: Ensure all engineering deliverables adhere to rigorous code quality benchmarks, performance criteria, security compliance, and evolving internal checklists.
• Mentorship & Collaborative Engineering: Guide and mentor junior engineers, conduct thorough peer code reviews, engage in pair programming, and clarify technical complexities to set team members up for success.
• Global Team Collaboration: Coordinate technical tasks and collaborate seamlessly with distributed nearshore and offshore engineering teams across Europe and India.
• Continuous Integration & Delivery: Create, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing suites (unit, integration, and TDD), and containerized deployments.
• Production Excellence & Incident Resolution: Assist in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex production incidents, driving root-cause analyses to continuously improve system resilience.

Job Qualifications:

Required Experience

• Experience Level: 5- 8 + years of professional software engineering experience developing robust, scalable applications with modern object-oriented programming languages.
• Core Java & Frameworks: Advanced hands-on experience in Java (including recent versions) and enterprise frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot.
• Distributed Architecture & Microservices: Proven expertise in designing, building, and deploying scalable microservices and RESTful API architectures.
• Event-Driven Systems: Solid hands-on experience implementing inter-service communication and event streaming using Apache Kafka.
• Relational Databases: Strong experience with relational database technologies, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• AI Tooling Proficiency: Practical experience using AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or AI coding agents) to accelerate software delivery and testing.
• Quality & Testing Practices: Solid background in automated testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and adherence to SOLID design principles and design patterns.
• Agile & DevOps Foundations: Working experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Cross-Functional Communication: Proven ability to navigate technical ambiguity, resolve blockers with a solutions-oriented mindset, and effectively partner with product, design, and offshore teams.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical work experience.

Nice to Haves / Preferred

• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform / GCP preferred, AWS, or Azure).
• Advanced AI & Agentic Workflows: Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), CLI-based AI coding agents, or building custom agentic workflows.
• Full-Stack / Front-End Awareness: Experience with modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, TypeScript) or Micro Frontend architectures.
• Build & Infrastructure Tools: Experience with Gradle, Groovy, Terraform, or Elasticsearch.
• Offshore Coordination: Direct experience collaborating with and coordinating tasks for offshore engineering teams in Europe and India.
• Domain Knowledge: Industry background in Real Estate, Property Data, Mortgage, Insurance, or Financial Services.
