Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a IT Systems Engineer II or III (level will depend on experience) at our Lynnwood, WA OR Burbank, CA location. This is an on-site position.

About Crane:

As an IT Systems Engineer (Compute) you will design, develop, support, and maintain our compute infrastructure both on-prem and in the cloud. You will implement and design both hardware and software solutions; make updates to system related installation documentation, and provide escalated support for issues relating to the compute infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the patching and management of data center and cloud technologies including VMware, Nutanix, Azure, and Oracle OCI
  • Ensure uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure through monitoring and timely remediation of infrastructure issues
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines both on-prem and in the cloud
  • Provide troubleshooting and recommendations for improvements on existing and new systems
  • Preserves data assets and ensures back-up procedures meet or exceed our policies
  • Help to implement and provide support for disaster recovery of key systems
  • Assist other teams with IT initiatives
  • Identifies issues, evaluates trends, and anticipates requirements
  • Ensures adherence to all regulatory compliance processes and requirements, including but not limited to Sarbanes-Oxley, DFARS, ITAR and like regulations
  • Support the monitoring, alerting and automation infrastructure for critical business systems and infrastructure
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
  • Provides documentation and training to other team members and IT teams
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Level II: 2-4+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a medium to high volume environment.
  • Level III: 4-7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a medium to high volume environment.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining hypervisor technologies including
  • Nutanix and VMware; Experience in managing and maintaining backup appliances, storage arrays, and server blade systems; Experience deploying and automating virtual machines both on-prem and in cloud infrastructure

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of current cloud and on-prem compute technologies, hypervisors, networking, storage, and backups
  • Proficient in supporting and maintaining compute environments to meet best practices

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving; Ability to complete job requirements within time constraints
  • Ability to train new employees to support systems as required; Ability to work effectively in an individual or team environment with occasional direction

Education/Certification:

  • BS degree in computer-oriented technical discipline or equivalent experience

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Requires work with small to medium size hand and power tools
  • Occasional travel to customer and outside test lab facilities for technical interchange meetings, design reviews, product testing support, and attend technical seminars
  • May need to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)

Annual Salary:

Level II: $101,900 - $121,400 USD Annual

Level III: $131,000 - $153,700 USD Annual

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus program.
