Day in The Life of a Part-time Medical Director

The Crossroads team is made up of passionate individuals dedicated to fighting substance use disorders and saving lives. Our teammates’ diverse backgrounds and experience are valuable assets in our mission to help patients build better lives in recovery.

Some Responsibilities include

  • Evaluate and manage patients with opioid use disorder in our outpatient clinic settings
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments as indicated by patient assessment
  • Complete medical documentation by Crossroads standards
  • Collaborate with clinic staff to provide holistic care to patients, including referrals to other medical providers and community services
  • Provide injections if needed
  • APP collaboration (additional stipend for supervision of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants)

Schedule & Locations

  • Primary center: Louisville OTP
  • Target weekly hours: 10
  • Proposed schedule: 6 hours in clinic one day a week and 4 hours admin/virtual other days

Education and Licensure Requirements

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical licensure and authorized to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky.
  • Board certified in primary specialty in one of the following: Family Medicine/Family Practice, Internal Medicine, General Practice and Psychiatry.
  • DEA Certificate of Registration in the state of practice with ability to schedule 2, 2N, 3, 4, & 5
  • Must have or be eligible for enrollment for Medicaid and Medicare credentials.
  • Additional education or certification may be required depending on state of practice.

State Specific Requirements

  • BE/BC psychiatrist with at least three (3) years of experience in the provision of services to persons who have a substance use disorder

OR

  • Board-certified as an addiction medicine specialist
