Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is a driving force behind Dexter’s commitment to safe, high‑quality, and environmentally responsible manufacturing. In this role, you’ll engineer smarter processes, elevate product performance, and shape the future of how Dexter builds world‑class laundry equipment. You’ll collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Environmental teams to design efficient workflows, reduce waste, strengthen compliance, and create ergonomic, high‑performing production systems. What You’ll Do
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental performance in every process you design and improve.
- Drive value‑stream improvements that enhance safety, reduce defects, lower cost, and improve delivery.
- Program and maintain CNC laser and turret punch press nesting for new and revised parts.
- Maintain routings, labor standards, and support accurate BOM structures.
- Conduct machine capacity, utilization, takt time, and inventory studies aligned with customer demand.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives that eliminate waste and strengthen flow.
- Develop and maintain facility and equipment layouts that prioritize ergonomics, safety, and efficiency.
- Analyze data to drive root‑cause problem solving for scrap, inefficiencies, and quality issues.
- Design fixturing, jigs, and tooling for fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Recommend capital improvements that elevate safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
- Perform work measurement and time studies to establish accurate labor standards.
- Create and maintain robotic programs for automated manufacturing processes.
- Partner with Safety and Environmental teams to ensure processes meet regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance goals.
- Take ownership of business results and personal wellness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
What You Bring
- B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and hands‑on technical skills
- Experience with sheet metal, welding, assembly, ergonomics, and CI/Lean principles
- Proficiency in CAD, MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear
- Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs
- Light to moderate noise level
- Travel less than 5%
- Must pass background check, physical, drug, and alcohol screenings
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
