Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding on structural steel,
piping, and miscellaneous metal components as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and project
specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble, fit, and weld metal components according to project
requirements.
• Measure, cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding and installation.
• Install and secure fabricated components in accordance with project plans and
applicable codes.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, structural integrity, and compliance with
specifications.
• Operate welding machines, torches, grinders, saws, and other fabrication
equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform field welding and fabrication work on commercial and industrial
construction sites.
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to maintain project
schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used.
• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report repair needs.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized
condition.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety
requirements.
• Identify and report job site hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work
environment.
• Participate in ongoing technical and safety training to remain current with industry
standards and welding practices.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and/or Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding
processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and welding procedures.
• Ability to operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Excellent problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a construction team.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience in commercial or industrial construction preferred.
• AWS welding certification preferred but not required.
• Experience welding structural steel, piping, or sheet metal is a plus.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and overhead
work.
• Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
• Frequent exposure to heat, sparks, noise, dust, and welding fumes while wearing
required PPE.
• Must possess the ability to adjust focus for close-up work, with or without
correction.
