POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pharmacy Technician, Clinic Support delivers accurate, responsive service to clinic customers while enabling prescription and order processing across Empower. Operating within a hyper-growth, highly regulated 503A/503B environment, this role owns inquiry resolution, transaction support, documentation accuracy, shipment tracking, billing coordination, and escalation of complex issues. The technician serves as a trusted contact for clinics, communicates clearly across multiple channels, and collaborates with internal teams to resolve concerns without compromising privacy, quality, or compliance. Success requires disciplined execution, empathy, sound judgment, analytical problem-solving, and the learning agility to adapt as priorities and requirements evolve. Through precise follow-through and accountable service, this role strengthens customer relationships, protects operational continuity, supports compliant pharmacy workflows, and advances Empower’s ability to expand access to innovative, affordable medications for the patients and providers we serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinic Customer Support
- Inquiry Resolution: Respond to clinic prescription inquiries, post-sale transactions, and complaints professionally, empathetically, and within the established 24-hour service expectation.
- Channel Communication: Communicate accurate updates through phone, email, fax, and internal messaging while maintaining clear ownership through issue resolution.
- Relationship Support: Build dependable clinic relationships by understanding customer needs, setting realistic expectations, and following through consistently on commitments.
Prescription And Order Accuracy
- Prescription Processing: Coordinate with internal teams to support accurate, timely processing of prescriptions and office orders while promptly resolving discrepancies.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain complete records of customer interactions, transactions, shipment status, and billing activity to support accurate operational follow-through.
- Issue Escalation: Identify concerns requiring specialized support and escalate them with complete context to Account Management, sales, or appropriate internal partners.
Quality And Compliance
- Privacy Protection: Protect confidential information by following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements and established company standards in every interaction.
- Shipment Tracking: Monitor shipment progress, communicate relevant updates, and address delivery concerns promptly to preserve service continuity and customer confidence.
- Workflow Improvement: Recognize recurring service or processing issues, recommend practical improvements, and apply approved changes that strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of pharmacy law, medical terminology, dosage measurements, and prescription-processing requirements supporting accurate, compliant daily clinic service operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for communication, record maintenance, shipment tracking, billing support, and issue documentation.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills for communicating clearly and empathetically with clinics, physicians, customers, and internal departments.
- Analytical problem-solving skills, close attention to detail, and sound judgment when resolving inquiries, identifying discrepancies, and determining appropriate escalation.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate accurately across phone, email, fax, and messaging channels while managing multiple service priorities required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus analytical and mathematical skills needed to process and interpret information accurately required.
- At least two years of pharmacy and customer service experience supporting clinics, providers, or comparable customer-facing operations preferred.
- College coursework or a degree in a science-related field that strengthens understanding of pharmacy and medication-related information required.
