Job Description:

Department: QA, Product Compliance and Tested Orders

Position: Machinist / NDE / Physical Test - Lab Technician

Primary Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machining equipment used to produce weld metal test specimens in accordance with AWS, ASME, Military, and other applicable specifications.
• Inspect completed specimens to verify dimensional requirements and tolerances, and accurately document inspection and test data.
• Collaborate with supervisors and laboratory personnel to prioritize machine shop, radiographic, and physical testing activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of testing requirements.
• Prepare test assemblies for radiographic examination and perform all necessary procedures to produce acceptable-quality radiographic images.
• Successfully complete training and qualification requirements to achieve and maintain Level II competency in Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Visual Testing (VT).
• Perform physical testing of weld specimens and materials, accurately calculate and record results, and evaluate compliance with established specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Support laboratory operations by performing equipment calibrations, maintaining calibration records, and documenting "as found" and "as left" conditions for measurement devices and gauges.
• Assist with a variety of laboratory functions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Test Lab Supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices while promoting a safe working environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with 5 to 8 years of relevant manufacturing, machining, laboratory, or technical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in manual machining, as well as CNC machine setup and operation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Proficient in the use of computers and standard software applications for data entry, documentation, and communication.
• Self-motivated with the flexibility to support multiple laboratory functions and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
