The Tool Room Attendant supports the daily operation of the Service Department by maintaining the dealership's tool room, specialty tools, shop equipment, and related inventory. This position helps ensure technicians have timely access to the tools and equipment they need while maintaining accurate records, protecting dealership assets, and keeping the tool room organized and ready to support a fast-paced automotive repair operation.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain an organized, clean, secure, and efficiently operated tool room.
  • Issue and receive dealership-owned tools, specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, and other shop equipment used by technicians.
  • Track tools and equipment to maintain accountability for dealership assets and identify outstanding or unreturned items.
  • Inspect returned tools and equipment for damage, excessive wear, missing components, or other concerns.
  • Coordinate the repair, replacement, calibration, or maintenance of tools and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct periodic physical inventories of tools and equipment.
  • Organize and properly store tools and equipment so they are readily available when needed.
  • Assist technicians in locating specialty tools, equipment, and other shop resources.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate tool, equipment, and supply needs to management.
  • Receive, identify, label, and place newly purchased tools and equipment into service.
  • Maintain applicable records for tool inspections, maintenance, calibration, repairs, and replacements.
  • Help protect dealership tools and equipment from loss, misuse, damage, or unauthorized removal.
  • Follow dealership safety procedures and manufacturer requirements when handling, storing, and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Communicate promptly with technicians, shop leadership, and management regarding missing, damaged, unavailable, or out-of-service equipment.
  • Perform other related duties necessary to support efficient Service Department operations.

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in an automotive dealership, repair facility, parts department, warehouse, tool room, or similar environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive tools, shop equipment, and repair operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning dealership, inventory, and tool-tracking systems.

Pay: $20.00 - $20.00 / hour
