About the Department
Our manufacturing team supports the production of complex, engineered equipment through CNC machining, programming, process development, and continuous improvement. The CNC Programmer works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure components are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on CNC Programmer to support our manufacturing facility in Northampton, PA. This role will focus primarily on developing, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs and supporting machining operations on the manufacturing floor.
The successful candidate will use Fusion 360 and other CAD/CAM tools to develop CNC programs, troubleshoot machining and tooling issues, improve manufacturing processes, and support the creation of models, drawings, fixtures, and manufacturing documentation.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong machining background who enjoys programming, solving problems on the shop floor, and finding better ways to manufacture complex components.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs using Fusion 360 and other CAD/CAM software
- Develop CNC programs for machining operations, including mills, lathes, and other applicable equipment
- Work directly with machinists and production teams to troubleshoot programming, machining, tooling, and setup issues
- Develop efficient machining processes, tooling strategies, and fixturing solutions
- Create and maintain 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements
- Support tooling and fixture selection and design
- Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, machining efficiency, quality, and productivity
- Assist with Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) creation, maintenance, and updates
- Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing documentation
- Provide input into manufacturing methods and sequencing of production operations
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve manufacturability and resolve production issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, and productivity
- Ensure machining processes comply with company quality and safety requirements
What You Bring
- Associate's degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on CNC programming and machining experience will be considered
- Hands-on experience programming CNC equipment in a manufacturing or machining environment
- Experience creating and modifying CNC programs using CAD/CAM software
- Experience with CNC machining processes, setups, tooling, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with Fusion 360; experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and manufacturing processes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with machinists, engineers, and production teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming CNC mills and/or lathes
- Experience with tooling and fixture design
- Experience machining large or complex components
- Experience improving existing CNC programs for cycle time, tool life, and quality
- Knowledge of manufacturing best practices and continuous improvement
- Experience with Microsoft D365 and Microsoft Office applications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks as needed
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
