Job Description:
The Georgia Department of Education - Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) is hiring for an Instructional Technology Specialist. Under limited supervision, the Instructional Technology Specialist supports the implementation, administration, training, and troubleshooting of instructional and enterprise technology systems that support teaching, learning, and organizational operations across Georgia Virtual Learning. This position serves as a technical and instructional resource for educators, administrators, staff, and students by providing expertise in educational technology, Microsoft 365 applications, digital learning platforms, and system integrations.
Job Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 services, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other educational systems
- Diagnose and resolving technical issues
- Assist with system implementations and testing
- Develop professional learning opportunities
- Create user documentation and resources
- Evaluate emerging technologies that enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities; and a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The position requires the ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders and work as a collaborative member of a cross-functional team to support organizational goals.
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Educational Leadership, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. • Experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, educational technology specialist, school leader, or technology support professional. • Demonstrated success supporting instructional technology initiatives in K-12, virtual, blended, or online learning environments. • Exposure to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, with a demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and apply new technologies to support teaching, learning, and operational effectiveness. • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Forms, and Copilot. • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity, authentication, and cloud-based application issues. • Experience implementing, administering, and supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and enterprise educational technology platforms. • Experience with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), single sign-on (SSO), rostering solutions, and educational technology integrations. • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, test, and resolve technical issues across multiple systems and platforms. • Experience supporting users through technical problem-solving, training, coaching, and customer service. • Experience creating and delivering professional learning, technical training, webinars, or instructional resources for diverse audiences. • Experience evaluating, piloting, and implementing new instructional or enterprise technology solutions. • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power Automate, Power Apps, or Forms. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to identify trends and improve processes. • Experience documenting procedures, developing knowledge-base resources, and maintaining technical documentation. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing organizational needs. • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a high-performing team, build positive relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to shared goals and continuous improvement efforts. • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, district policies, data privacy requirements, and cybersecurity best practices. • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, policies, procedures, and system requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
