Job Summary

The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, retention, and growth of a large and complex multi-line commercial insurance book of business. This role serves as the primary client contact and trusted advisor, providing proactive service, coverage consultation, account stewardship, and strategic risk management support.

The Account Manager will partner closely with producers, carrier partners, and internal teams to deliver exceptional client experiences while identifying opportunities to retain and expand client relationships through cross-selling additional products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary service contact for assigned commercial accounts.
• Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through proactive communication and responsive service.
• Conduct regular account reviews to identify coverage gaps, emerging exposures, and risk management opportunities.
• Provide consultative guidance regarding policy coverages, endorsements, exclusions, and insurance program structure.
• Resolve client inquiries, coverage issues, and service concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Account Retention & Growth

• Maintain high client retention levels through proactive stewardship and relationship management.
• Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities across commercial property, casualty, workers' compensation, professional liability, cyber liability, employee benefits, personal lines, and ancillary insurance products.
• Collaborate with producers to develop and implement account growth strategies.
• Participate in renewal strategy discussions and client presentations.
• Assist in managing and expanding key accounts to maximize client value and agency profitability.

Policy & Renewal Management

• Manage all aspects of the renewal process, including marketing, negotiating, quoting, proposal preparation, and binding coverage.
• Review policies, endorsements, audits, and carrier correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare comprehensive renewal and stewardship reports for clients.
• Coordinate marketing submissions and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with carrier partners.
• Ensure timely processing of policy changes, endorsements, certificates of insurance, audits, cancellations, and reinstatements.

Carrier & Market Relations

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and underwriting partners.
• Advocate on behalf of clients to obtain competitive coverage terms and pricing.
• Stay informed of market trends, carrier appetite changes, and emerging risks impacting clients.

Operational Excellence

• Maintain accurate client records and documentation within agency management systems.
• Ensure compliance with agency procedures, carrier requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Meet service standards, workflow expectations, and performance goals.
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of Commercial Lines Account Management experience.
• Experience managing large and complex multi-line commercial accounts.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products including Property, General Liability, Auto, Umbrella, Workers' Compensation, Cyber, Professional Liability, Inland Marine, and Management Liability.
• Proven success in client retention and cross-selling initiatives.
• Exceptional customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with agency management systems, carrier portals, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Active Property & Casualty insurance license required for at least 5 years.
• CIC, CISR, CRM, or similar professional designation preferred.
