Job Summary
Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of clinical specimens including blood, urine, body fluids, CSF, stool and others. Performs testing on proficiency samples, quality control, standards, and calibrators. Able to perform manual methods, including kits and able to run all lab instrumentation. Troubleshoots problems and performs maintenance on instruments and takes corrective actions when necessary. Reports tests results to patient unit and clinicians.
Essential Functions
- 1. Performs testing in a timely manner by being able to set priorities. 2. Completes work assigned during shift, prepares pending log at end of shift and informs next shift of tests pending. Notifying Practice Manager and staff when running low on supplies, reagents etc. Maintaining a well-stocked workbench. 3. Maintains standards and stat testing protocols. Meets turnaround time for test results. 4. Responds to changes in work as necessary. 5. Documents and takes corrective action when needed on quality control, equipment calibration before patient testing. Notifies management of errors or changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree Required
- 1-3 years Clinical Laboratory as a Generalist Preferred
- Problem solving skills, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, flexible in work schedule hours, (Medium proficiency)
- Clinical Laboratory Technologist - New York State Board of Clinical Laboratory Technology Clinical Laboratory Technologist Required
- ASCP Preferred
