We are looking for an ambitious Senior Developer to join our dynamic team!

📍 Location: Athens 💼 Full-time | Permanent

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will be designing, building, and maintaining internal applications, system integrations, and data pipelines that support the company's insurance operations. Working closely with the Head of IT and business stakeholders, you will deliver reliable, scalable, and well-structured software solutions while contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Your Role:

Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Python.
  • Support, maintain, and progressively modernize existing C#/.NET applications.
  • Apply modern software engineering principles, including clean architecture, domain-driven design, and event-driven patterns where appropriate.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, including unit and integration tests.

Integrations & Data Engineering

  • Design and implement integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
  • Develop and support REST and SOAP API integrations, as well as file-based data exchanges.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Implement data validation, exception handling, monitoring, and reprocessing capabilities.
  • Work with SQL Server and other data platforms to support reporting and operational processes.

Support & Operational Excellence

  • Act as an escalation point for application and integration issues.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Contribute to system reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Electrical & Computer Engineering / Mathematics or a related field.
  • Strong Python development experience building and supporting production applications.
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience (SQL Server preferred), including query optimization, stored procedures, and schema design.
  • Working knowledge of C#/.NET, sufficient to maintain and refactor existing applications.
  • Experience maintaining or modernizing C#/.NET applications.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST API integrations.
  • Experience with SOAP APIs and legacy system integrations.
  • Experience working with system-to-system integrations and data exchange processes.
  • Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar.
  • Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Experience with Salesforce or CRM integrations.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
  • Experience with source control and collaborative development practices (Git).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Industry Experience :

  • Experience in insurance, financial services, banking, or another regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with policy administration systems, insurance platforms, or broker systems.

Other Skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of solutions from design through deployment and support.
