The Opportunity Join HP’s high-impact, high-visibility Personal Systems Strategy and Planning team and help shape the future of how people work, create, and connect. This team partners closely with senior Personal Systems leaders to define long-term vision, medium-term strategic priorities, and near-term business choices that influence portfolio direction, go-to-market motions, investment priorities, competitive responses, and growth opportunities. Personal Systems is at the center of major shifts in AI, hybrid work, security, services, and connected experiences
This is an exciting opportunity for a structured, results-oriented strategy leader who can both solve complex problem and drive end-to-end strategy to execution programs to make visible impact at scale. In this role, you will help the business make strategic choices, shape value proposition of new growth areas, and engage with stakeholders to define operationalization path.
You will work across executive leaders, business teams, product teams, finance, and cross-functional partners to develop insight-driven recommendations grounded in rigorous analysis and compelling strategic narratives. Responsibilities
- Lead strategic analyses to identify market trends, customer needs, competitive shifts, and emerging opportunities relevant to the Personal Systems business.
- Develop recommendations on 1–5 year strategy, including where to play, how to win, growth priorities, and ecosystem partners collaborations.
- Build data-driven business cases, long-term plans, and investment theses that inform portfolio, product, and business decisions.
- Structure analytical approaches, hypothesis trees, project plans, and executive-ready storylines to solve complex and ambiguous business problems.
- Synthesize insights from market research, financial analysis, and internal data into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate strategic initiatives across areas such as AI PCs, future-of-work experiences, services, software, ecosystem partnerships, and new growth opportunities.
- Drive alignment across business, product, finance, and regional teams to ensure strategic priorities are translated into actionable plans that are executed.
- Consult with business executives on a wide range of issues related to strategic planning, risk management, business performance, and innovation opportunities.
- Collaborate with the broader Strategy and Planning team to bring different perspectives, pressure test ideas, and build holistic recommendations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Exceptional analytical thinking, structured problem solving, and hypothesis-driven decision-making skills.
- Ability to break down ambiguous issues into clear frameworks, actionable insights, and practical execution plans.
- Strong business acumen with experience assessing markets, competitive dynamics, customer needs, and business model implications.
- Strong project program management and prioritization skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple high-visibility workstreams. Translate strategy into execution across a matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate across senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and global partners.
- Experience building financial models, business cases, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create concise, compelling, executive-ready presentations and narratives.
- Curiosity, learning agility, and comfort working in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.
- Ability to connect technology, customer, and market trends to strategic choices for the Personal Systems portfolio.
- High degree of ownership, sound judgment, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred. Typically 8–10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, business strategy, management consulting, product strategy, or a related field.
- Experience in top-tier consulting, corporate strategy, or a similarly rigorous strategy environment is highly desirable.
- Experience developing strategic recommendations, business cases, and executive communications for senior leaders.
- Experience working in technology, hardware, software, services, or adjacent industries is preferred.
Salary
The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
