Job Description:
OEM Systems Software Engineer I is a strategic position bridging customers and the HPE engineering team. You will work with OEM and Service Provider (SP) customers to help them implement their solutions on the HPE ProLiant platform. The role is also responsible for providing strategic design advice for future HPE ProLiant products based on their customer-facing experience. You will work with internal teams as well as external partners and vendors to achieve the organization's business goals. We are looking for an energetic, goal-oriented, and strategic problem solver to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Work with OEM and SP customers to resolve issues on HPE ProLiant platforms.
- Improve HPE ProLiant software deliverables such as SPP (Service Pack for ProLiant), iLOrest, and COM.
- Identify and debug software bugs and report findings to the Development team.
- Develop test plans, test cases, test scenarios, traceability matrices, and test reports.
- Attend automation core team meetings to analyze and design the automation framework.
- Test future-generation (Beta) ProLiant Servers.
- Conduct feasibility studies and requirements analysis for new feature implementation; raise requests with the product management team for implementation in future ProLiant generations.
- Implement test processes for HPE DX servers in collaboration with Nutanix and external partners.
- Collaborate with internal and external development teams to design and implement customer-requested features and resolve issues.
- Work with external NIC and RAID controller vendors to resolve issues.
- Perform OS updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise in UEFI and Secure Boot modes to verify OS compatibility on HPE ProLiant Servers.
- Own Quick Setup, test execution, and reporting of test results.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Typically, 2-4 years of experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience working with industry-standard servers; well-versed in server architecture and design for Intel and AMD platforms.
- Knowledge of NICs, NVIDIA GPUs, SSDs, HDDs, and RAID controllers.
- Systems programming knowledge, including x64 architecture, storage, and networking.
- Python scripting knowledge for writing test cases.
- Linux experience, including RHEL, SUSE, and Ubuntu.
- Working knowledge of XML and JSON.
- REST API implementation expertise to communicate with iLO (BMC).
- Knowledge of UEFI BIOS and Ethernet networking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly communicate design proposals and negotiate options with customers.
- Knowledge of software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing of scripts and tools.
