Job Description:

ABOUT LATTICE SEMICONDUCTOR – AMI

Lattice Semiconductor is the low power FPGA leader with 8,000+ customers globally. We're transforming how the world processes data by delivering innovative semiconductor solutions that enable our customers to differentiate their products and accelerate their growth.

Our India team plays a critical role in this mission, contributing to product development, design, verification, and customer support across multiple technical disciplines. We're building a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

THE ROLE

A modern computing platform is only as good as the firmware that brings it to life.

At Lattice-AMI, we're looking for a Member Technical Staff I who is passionate about low-level software development and embedded platforms. You will work on Board Support Packages (BSPs), device drivers, operating system internals, and hardware-software integration for Linux and Windows-based systems.

You will collaborate closely with hardware, and system engineering teams to enable new platforms, support board bring-up activities, develop critical software components, and solve complex system-level challenges.

This is a highly technical role where your contributions directly influence product functionality, performance, reliability, and customer success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

· Design, develop, and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs) for Linux and Windows-based embedded platforms.

· Develop and maintain device drivers and kernel-level software components for Linux and Windows operating systems.

· Work on communication protocols including UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.

· Collaborate closely with hardware and FPGA teams during board bring-up and platform validation activities.

· Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software integration issues using JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and system logs.

· Contribute to system integration across firmware, middleware, operating system, and application layers.

· Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to improve software quality and maintainability.

· Analyze, root cause, and resolve complex system-level issues in embedded platforms.

· Document architecture, design decisions, debugging methodologies, and technical solutions.

· Stay current with emerging embedded technologies, operating system advancements, and industry standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.

· 1+ years of experience in embedded software development.

· Strong programming skills in C/C++.

· Hands-on experience in BSP development for Linux and/or Windows platforms.

· Experience in device driver development and operating system internals.

· Good understanding of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.

· Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Experience working with version control systems such as Git.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with Linux kernel development and debugging.

· Familiarity with Windows device driver development.

· Understanding of bootloaders, board bring-up activities, and firmware architecture.

· Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

· Knowledge of embedded system design and hardware-software integration.

· Exposure to Python, Shell scripting, or test automation frameworks.

· Experience working with hardware, or platform engineering teams.

· Good learning aptitude and ability to adapt to evolving product requirements.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

This is not an application software development role.

You'll be working close to the hardware, developing core platform software, BSPs, and device drivers that enable next-generation embedded systems and products.
