Madison College is seeking an experienced Manager, Analytics Infrastructure and Reporting to lead the College’s enterprise analytics, reporting, and data integration environment. This position brings together business intelligence, data integration, analytics, and cloud-based technologies with a strong focus on understanding institutional needs and delivering solutions that provide real value to the College. Working collaboratively with college leadership and cross-functional partners, the Manager establishes analytics priorities and data standards, develops scalable and well-governed reporting solutions, and works closely with strategic planning specialists to translate complex institutional data into meaningful insights that support strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making.

This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Institutional Effectiveness. This team is dedicated to supporting the College’s mission and helping our students succeed.

Position Details

  • Schedule: This is an onsite in Madison, WI, full-time, salaried position with core hours typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Rare evening and weekend work to remediate system failures may be required.

Virtual interviews will be held in late October with anticipated in-person interviews in Madison, Wisconsin, early to mid-November. Reimbursement of travel expenses is available for out-of-state candidates.

Accountabilities:

  • Leads, supports and develops teams to ensure accountability of institutional objectives and operational excellence. This includes effective deployment of human resources practices such as inclusive hiring, performance management principles, development opportunities and employee support.
  • Contributes and engages in budgetary, financial and procurement decisions that ensure fiduciary responsibility while meeting operational and institutional goals.
  • Works with college leadership and departments to oversee, design and support enterprise reporting, analytics and data integration solutions that support institutional decision-making, reporting operations and strategic initiatives. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves data quality and reporting system performance issues.
  • Implements Project Management Methodology on a portfolio of concurrent projects; leads and manages projects impacting the college's reporting.
  • Conceptualizes, documents, and maps cross-functional systems & processes to facilitate shared knowledge for college staff.
  • Develops, reviews and supports the training and education of enterprise business intelligence tools and data literacy to all levels of staff at the college. Leads one-on-one guidance sessions and working lab sessions for new users and report authors.
  • Provides direct leadership and oversight of Analytics Infrastructure and Reporting functions, establishing analytic priorities and data standards that are aligned with institutional strategy and executive needs.
  • Leads and develops staff within Analytics Infrastructure and Reporting functions, fostering analytic excellence, accountability and professional growth.
  • Partners with colleagues to align reporting needs with data governance, strategic initiatives and technical capabilities.
  • Oversees regulatory reporting functions, including IPEDs, WTCS, and other regulatory bodies, ensuring alignment, transparency and effective process management.
  • Creates an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply emerging analytics technologies, platforms and frameworks within evolving Azure-based enterprise analytics environments.
  • Experience transforming and presenting data through dashboards, presentations, reports and other communication media using productivity, visualization and presentation tools.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects, workflows and collaborative planning efforts using project management, automation and team collaboration tools.
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking and facilitative leadership to guide institutional planning, evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and synthesizing complex institutional data to inform executive and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Ability to establish reporting priorities and supports aligned with institutional strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and ability to collaborate effectively with technical data management partners.
  • Skill in engaging positively and respectfully with diverse populations and communities, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning and work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree AND equivalent additional relevant work experience
  • 3 + years of relevant work experience
  • Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a student’s academic journey, as it pertains to data
  • Proficiency in Azure-based enterprise analytics environments, e.g. Microsoft Fabric or Databricks
  • Experience implementing new BI data architecture and toolsets
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance regulations
  • Familiarity with End-to-End reporting solution design and development, from the back end of data modeling, integration, ETL processes to the front end of report design and dashboards in BI tools
  • Knowledge of IPEDs or WTCS
