MEGA’s IT department builds and evolves platforms powering our energy and telecom businesses. To support our growth and AI-driven transformation, we are creating a Head of Development role to define our technical vision, drive engineering excellence and lead our development team to the next level.

The job:

As Head of Development, you are the technical leader and trusted partner of the Development Team.

You set the technical vision, create the conditions for engineering excellence, and help the team deliver high-quality solutions at scale. Acting as both a strategic leader and a hands-on expert, you guide technical decisions, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and support engineers in reaching their full potential.

You are the person the team turns to for clarity, direction, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the Technical North Star, including architecture, engineering standards and AI-augmented ways of working.

• Lead technical decision-making and bring rigour to estimates, architecture choices and delivery commitments.
• Raise the bar on delivery quality, performance and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.
• Coach, develop and grow the team while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Stay hands-on enough to provide technical guidance and maintain strong credibility with the engineers.

Is this job made for you?

Experience

• 8+ years in software engineering, including experience leading development teams.
• Proven ability to define technical direction and drive delivery excellence.
• Experience in energy, utilities or telecom is a plus.

Technical Expertise

• Strong full-stack and software architecture background.
• Experience with modern web technologies, APIs, microservices and DevOps practices.
• Solid understanding of agile delivery, estimation and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on experience with AI-augmented development.

Leadership, management & Communication

• Credible technical leader with strong coaching and people management skills.
• Excellent communicator, able to bridge technical and business perspectives.
• Comfortable balancing business priorities with technical constraints.
• Fluent in French and English; Dutch is a plus.
