Job Details:
The McAfee School of Theology is searching for a faculty of New Testament Studies on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.
The McAfee School of Theology invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track faculty appointment in New Testament at the rank of assistant or associate professor, beginning in August 2027.
Responsibilities:
McAfee offers courses in fully residential, concurrent learning, and fully online formats in its degree programs that include MDiv, MACM, MTS, and DMin. The successful candidate will develop and teach six courses per year in Introductory and Advanced New Testament and Koine Greek, with occasional teaching opportunities in the DMin program. The successful candidate will also participate fully in the life of the McAfee community, advise students, supervise masters and DMin theses, and serve on McAfee and University committees as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD from an accredited college/university in a related field with a concentration in New Testament Studies by the start of the appointment. Candidates with an MDiv degree are highly desirable.
Desirable qualities in a candidate include:
- A demonstrated ability to engage effectively with faith communities and connect academic scholarship with religious practice.
- A commitment to the mission of the McAfee School of Theology and Mercer University
- Online teaching experience
- A robust research and publication agenda
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and engage effectively with students from diverse backgrounds

Preference will be given to completed applications submitted by November 1, 2026. Individual interviews will be conducted at the SBL meeting in Denver November 22-23 of 2026.
