The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. This position upholds patient rights, maintains confidentiality, and performs all duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

Position Details:

Mercy’s Labor & Birth unit provides compassionate, high-quality care to mothers and newborns across the full continuum—from low-risk deliveries to high-risk antenatal care. Our team delivers care in a highly collaborative, faith-based environment supported 24/7 by in-house OB hospitalists, anesthesia, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists. This unit is known for safe staffing ratios, advanced clinical expertise, and a strong commitment to excellence, with many nurses holding national certifications.

Ratio: 3-1:1

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience in charge/clinical coordinator setting.

Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities):

  • At least 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Advanced assessment skills.
