OB Associate - Mercy Hospital NW Arkansas

Find your calling at Mercy! Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the OB patients experience. Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient and the success of the unit. May assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Support the nursing team and patients by providing supportive care and assistance with ADLs to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned. Maintains calm and works efficiently and effectively through obstetrical emergencies, as part of the team. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Qualifications: Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC or enrollment in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy. Experience: None required Preferred Experience: Healthcare, customer care, or hospitality. Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire. Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Other: Minimum Physical Requirements Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties Why Mercy? Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
