JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Coordinator of International and Intercultural Education coordinates programs, staff development activities, and cultural events that promote global awareness, intercultural understanding, and meaningful engagement across cultures. The Coordinator also participates in the development of College policies and procedures as related to international/intercultural education.

This incumbent in this role must have significant outreach and engagement with faculty, staff, and the metropolitan area community. We are seeking a dynamic professional with strong community connections to develop and coordinate meaningful intercultural programs, activities, and events.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• Plans, coordinates and communicates the International/Intercultural programming, events and community outreach of the College.
• Responds to staff, student and community inquiries as appropriate.
• Develops, coordinates and maintains culturally-focused partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
• May chair committees involving students, college personnel and community members to develop international/intercultural education activities.
• Assists with the identification and development of international/intercultural and other grant opportunities and directs assigned grant-funded initiatives.
• Manages international/intercultural education budgets and other assigned budgets in accordance with College policies and procedures.
• Serves as a liaison with College personnel to coordinate programs, resources, and services that support student engagement and success.
• Consistently and dependably attends work, meetings, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
• Works occasional evenings and weekends and travels to other College locations and community sites as needed to support programs, events, and outreach activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Monday - Friday, 8-5 with frequent evening hours as programming requires.

This is an on-premise position primarily located on the Fort Omaha Campus, with responsibilities and service to multiple other MCC campuses and centers.

• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to work independently with brief instruction.
• Ability to maintain an attitude of initiative and acceptance of responsibility.
• Ability to read documents and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to recognize legal jargon surrounding travel programs and insurance.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets.
• Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Event Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Marketing, Communications, or another related field.
• Two year’s related work experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
• Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
• Must pass background check.
