Overview
- Coach and mentor clients in their choices and actions in the areas of 1) daily living activities, 2) developing and maintaining positive self-image, 3) personal hygiene and health monitoring, 4) social and communication skills, 5) functional community skills, 6) recreational activities, and 7) budgeting and planning.
- Provide services and support to clients in accordance with Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and in compliance with program routine, Resident Rights, Admission Agreement, and Company policies, procedures, and protocols, and applicable regulatory and contractual standards.
- Follow directives documented in Behaviors Service Plan (BSP) when interacting with clients, including responding to verbal and physical aggression, property destruction, and elopement.
- Remain informed on client support and care plan needs in all assigned programs. Attends staff meetings and management meetings as determined by the supervisor.
- Administer medications per policy and promptly report any errors or concerns with medication administration to the Supervisor.
- Monitor clients for illness and injury. Document and report all concerns promptly to Supervisor. Follow procedures for taking action and notifying others.
- Transport clients in a safe manner, adhering to all traffic laws and Company policies. If transporting in own personal vehicle, must maintain personal insurance and ensure vehicle is safe and reliable.
- Provide supportive services related to meals, including menu-planning, meal preparation, and clean-up.
- Remain flexible in daily schedule to accommodate the wants and needs of the clients.
- Complete logs and other documentation as required by ISPs, BSPs, supervisors, and Company policy.
- Observe all rules of confidentiality both within the programs and outside of work.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, interacting with them in a sincere and meaningful way while maintaining a caregiver – client relationship.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant program environment. Report to the Supervisor promptly any needed repairs to the property. Follow safety policies/procedures including the use of safety equipment. Report any problems or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain knowledge of all fire, tornado, and disaster procedures. Assist with all emergency fire and tornado drills.
- Report issues of safety, injury, danger, damage to property and community relations to Supervisor. Report concerns from guardians or government agencies to supervisor.
- Complete required training by specified dates.
- Maintain a work schedule that meets the needs of the region. May be scheduled to work at any location based on the program needs and have the ability to work any shift, including weekends. Is expected to work holidays based upon the region holiday schedule/rotation.
- Review and commits to open shifts available in the assigned Region. The supervisor has the authority to promote shift selection and program location based on the highest need. Will be trained in various regional programs to ensure ability to assist with coverage in all homes.
- Notify both the supervisor of the home scheduled to work at as well as direct supervisor if unable to work or unable to report to scheduled shift on time.
- Work shifts and potential overtime hours at locations as assigned by the Supervisor. Follow Company policies and procedures in requesting time off, reporting absences, and reporting of time worked.
- Present oneself in a professional manner at all times, including appearance, language, and interactions with clients, co-workers and management team. Treat others with dignity and respect.
- Report allegations of abuse, resident rights violations, conflict of interest, harassment, or fraud to appropriate level of management.
