Narrative Designer (Game Writer)

About Wild Fields™ Wild Fields is a Malta-based studio with deep Ukrainian roots. Founded by industry veteran Daniel Poludyonny, the studio brings together a seasoned team that’s been making games together for years at N-iX Games. Previously, the team worked on multiple games for Paradox, Supermassive Games, and Netflix, and self-published their first game, Speed Crew, in 2024.

About the project A “roguelite” real time strategy game with city-building elements and immersive bits, in which you must manage a floating city on an ever-changing alien ocean. If you are excited about the opportunity to collaborate and grow among passionate experts — we invite you to our team!

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Sci-Fi writer with work examples
• Design story and narrative-driven content in a productive and resultative fashion
• Creating and maintaining design documentation to communicate changes to the team
• Forward-thinking and anticipating the game's needs with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative
• Desire and ability to support Game Design team and Game Director in defining systems and structures to improve the game experience throughout the entire game, not just in the story/narrative area
• Written English (at least C1)

Responsibilities:

• Write the core narrative, lore, and world-building for the game
• Design and write dialogue
• Work closely with the Game Design team and the Game Director to integrate the storyline into the core game systems
• Playtest narrative content regularly
• Own and maintain narrative design documentation

Good to have:

• At least one shipped commercial game title is a huge plus
• Experience with Unreal Engine
• Great communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
• Familiarity with the hard sci-fi genre, and narrative strategy games
• A portfolio containing examples of narrative work and examples of style variety is a plus
