Mental Health Worker – In-Patient Units - Float Pool - Evenings
As a Mental Health Worker, you will serve on the front lines of patient care, helping ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals receiving treatment. You will observe, assess, and document patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being, communicating important changes to the nursing and clinical teams to support timely interventions and quality care.
In this role, you will:
- Promote patient safety through vigilant observation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Build therapeutic relationships that support recovery and reinforce patient-centered care.
- Assist patients with daily activities while encouraging independence, dignity, and engagement in their treatment plans.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of distress, anxiety, or behavioral changes.
- Record vital signs and other key clinical information that informs multidisciplinary treatment decisions.
- Contribute to a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
This is an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable frontline experience in behavioral health while making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.
This is a full-time 8 hours, day/ evening rotational shift position (3:00pm - 11:30 pm), includes working rotating weekends (Saturday/Sunday) for the NYP/Westchester Behavioral Health.
Preferred Criteria
- Ideal candidates aspire to careers or degrees in social work or psychiatry.
- A college degree and at least one year of psychiatry-related experience
Required Criteria
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association - AHA)
- Maintenance of Basic Life Support certification
- Demonstrate commitment to continued learning & orientation completion
