The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor, NC. Reporting to the Administrative Officer at a multi-level custody male correctional facility with approximately 275 employees.
The primary duties of this position will include but are not limited to:
• Provide administrative and clerical support to Administrative Services
• Answer telephone calls, greet visitors and direct inquires appropriately
• Maintain confidential employee files, personnel records and HR documentation
• Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and forms.
• Assists with recruitment activities, scheduling candidates and processing applicants for interview
• Prepare weekly and monthly report for Administrative Services
• Update Administrative Services organization chart, Standard Operating Procedures and assist with preparation for audit.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Work Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8hr/day schedule.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences:
Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

About the Division of Institutions:
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
