Description of Work

This position reports to the Correctional Programs Director I at a medium custody male correctional facility and must be able to work under stressful conditions to meet daily/monthly deadlines. Responsibilities of this position include; but are not limited to, the following: - Working closely with population management to facilitate the transfer of offenders in and out of the facility - Maintaining offender field jackets and coordinating trips, transfers, and the backlogging of offenders - Maintaining files and records effectively according to departmental policy allowing for quick, easy access, and retrieval of requested information. - Composing memorandums and letters with limited or no instruction. Proofreading documents for spelling, punctuation, and grammar - Entering and comprehending computer generated data and reviewing completed tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of information - Receiving and processing sectional mail - Maintaining confidentiality and working well independently in close proximity to other staff - Compiling data from a variety of sources and reports.

Salary Range: $41,206 - $72,113

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About Pender Correctional Institution: Pender Correctional Institution is located in Burgaw, North Carolina and houses up to 750 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
