This is a temporary position, and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located at 517 West Fleming Drive, Morganton, NC 28655- Burke County, with the NC School for the Deaf.
*Hiring for multiple positions on second (2nd) and third (3rd) shift*
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
*Shift premium pay for evenings, nights, and weekends*
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Management Preferences:
- Provide supervision, training, and supportive counseling to NCSD residential school students
- Ensure a safe and secure environment and monitor and supervise students
- Enhance learning opportunities and assist students in a variety of age-appropriate activities that include personal hygiene and grooming, homework, and projects, and social and/or recreational activities
- May tutor students in academic subjects and skill development, conduct formal and informal learning exercises, and provide supportive counseling on interpersonal relationships and appropriate behaviors
- Student Life Trainers may also teach objectives related to the residential program and evaluate student progress, emulating the parenting role in settings that serve children
Minimum Education and Experience
