Job Description Summary:

Within the dialysis environment and under the supervision of the Lead RN, performs specific patient care activities, performs selected technical support activities and assists the RN to perform specific nursing activities for which the individual has received specific training and certification through the Ohio Board of Nursing. The Dialysis Technician is assigned a patient care team structure to specific patients, and acts in partnership with the Lead RN in performing direct patient care to patients receiving hemodialysis treatments.

Responsibilities And Duties:

1. 10% Establishes patency of internal vascular accesses and initiates the hemdialysis treatment as assigned cannulation of fistula, goretex graft t , administers dialysis specific heparin and normal saline: 2. 5% Performs minor calculations based on patient weights to determine membrane pressures for patient fluid removal, applies calculated pressures: 3. 30% Promotes patient stability during hemodialysis treatment through monitoring of vital signs, and crisis intervention initial NS bolus IV, adjust machine parameter s with collaboration of team: 4. 15% Terminates hemodialysis treatment on patients with internal vascular access, returns blood, removes cannulation needles, discharges patient and enters transportation requests into system: 5. 20% Sets up/tears down all equipment used for hemodialysis treatments: 6. 17% Performs miscellaneous patient care related activities delegated by management supervisory personnel, and/or team R n : 7. 3% Performs aseptic and sterile dressing changes, culture drainage, and reports exit site abnormalities to Lead RN: The major duties, responsibilities and listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive of the duties, responsibilities and to be performed by employees in this job. Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, OCDT - Ohio Certified Dialysis Technician - Ohio Board of Nursing

Additional Job Description:

Previous dialysis training and current Certification as an Ohio Certified Dialysis Technician. Preferred five ( 5 ) years dialysis Experience , BLS.
