Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Marketing & Multimedia Designer for the Integrated Support & Development at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position is for a Student Marketing & Multimedia Designer who will create visual and digital content as part of the marketing team for the Integrated Support & Development portfolio of departments, including New Student Onboarding, Academics for Student Athletes, the Career Development Center, the Office of Academic Success, and Cross-Campus Strategic Initiatives. The Student Marketing & Multimedia Designer will create graphic design assets, marketing materials, photography, short-form video, and social media content for a variety of audiences across print and digital channels. The student will also assist with publishing social media content and reviewing basic engagement metrics to help improve future content. The Student Marketing & Multimedia Designer will work collaboratively with staff throughout the portfolio, with lead work provided by the Digital Communications Specialist. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Through this position, students will develop core competencies that prepare them for careers after graduation, including communication, critical thinking, creativity, teamwork/collaboration, leadership, professionalism, intercultural fluency, and digital technology.

Position Duties:

  • Design print and digital marketing materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Create visual assets such as posters, flyers, social media graphics, and digital advertisements.
  • Create and publish content for social media and other digital communication channels, including writing captions and adapting content for different platforms.
  • Capture and edit photography and video content.
  • Assist with creation of short-form social media content, including Instagram Reels and TikTok-style videos.
  • Use analytics tools to review social media content performance and adjust content plans accordingly.
  • Adhere to OSU brand standards, accessibility requirements, and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with staff across the portfolio to identify and promote student stories, services, programs, and events.
  • Assist with programs, outreach activities, and other events.
  • Meet regularly with the Marketing & Communications team to brainstorm campaign ideas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated graphic design experience and understanding of visual design principles.
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current content formats.
  • Ability to create compelling visual content for print and digital platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Digital Communication Arts, New Media Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience creating short-form video content such as Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, or other social media video formats.
  • Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or CapCut.
  • Photography and photo editing experience.
  • Experience managing or contributing to social media accounts.
  • Experience monitoring engagement metrics and analytics.
  • Project management and digital asset management experience.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

Typical working hours are 10-15 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during academic breaks. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance. A hybrid work arrangement may be available. Period of employment is one academic year, contingent upon employee maintaining satisfactory job performance as evaluated by supervisor.
