About Western Slope Health Center
Western Slope Health Center is seeking an experienced, motivated, and relationship-focused Director of Business Development to lead our marketing, census development, referral relations, community outreach, and public relations initiatives.
This is a key leadership position responsible for developing and executing strategies that strengthen Western Slope Health Center's presence in the community, build lasting relationships with healthcare referral partners, support census growth, and promote the services and programs available to our residents.
The ideal candidate is an outgoing and strategic relationship builder who understands healthcare business development and enjoys connecting with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, healthcare professionals, families, community organizations, and other referral partners.
What You'll Do
- Develop, coordinate, direct, and administer comprehensive business development, marketing, and public relations programs for Western Slope Health Center.
- Develop and implement strategies designed to maintain and increase facility census.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, case managers, social workers, healthcare providers, senior living communities, community organizations, civic leaders, residents, and families.
- Develop and maintain a current database of referral sources, community partners, and other key contacts.
- Identify new referral and business development opportunities throughout the local healthcare and community markets.
- Establish a consistent outreach program designed to develop new relationships and strengthen existing referral partnerships.
- Represent Western Slope Health Center at healthcare networking events, community events, professional organizations, civic activities, and other appropriate functions.
- Develop and maintain marketing materials, brochures, information packets, presentations, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
- Ensure all public-facing information accurately and completely describes the services and programs offered by the facility.
- Collaborate with the Administrator and department directors to develop and implement effective marketing and business development strategies.
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to promote excellent customer service and a positive experience for residents and families.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys and improvement initiatives.
- Monitor community and healthcare industry trends that may affect referral relationships, facility reputation, census, and business development.
- Coordinate outreach regarding new programs, services, promotions, events, and other facility initiatives.
- Develop positive relationships with local media and community organizations when appropriate.
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, community leaders, civic organizations, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in community service and civic organizations to increase awareness of Western Slope Health Center and strengthen community partnerships.
- Coordinate and support facility events, community outreach programs, educational opportunities, and referral partner events.
- Assist Activity and Social Services departments with resident programs, publications, special events, and other community-facing initiatives.
- Maintain effective internal communications through meetings, newsletters, announcements, bulletin boards, and other communication methods.
- Participate in facility and departmental meetings related to marketing, business development, customer satisfaction, and public relations.
- Assist with staff training and orientation related to customer service, marketing, public relations, and communication.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures governing the release of resident, employee, and facility information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, regulations, and facility policies.
- Ensure employees follow established policies and procedures regarding the release of confidential information.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident care information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), and report known or suspected unauthorized disclosures.
- Interpret and communicate resident rights to residents, families, and staff as appropriate.
- During emergency situations, coordinate with facility leadership to ensure information released to the public is accurate and consistent with established policies.
- Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and effectively manage department resources.
- Serve on facility committees and participate in special projects as assigned by the Administrator.
- Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, professionalism, personal interest, and positive emphasis throughout the facility.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, local, regulatory, safety, privacy, and facility requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities
This position includes supervisory responsibilities and requires the ability to effectively lead, coach, communicate with, and collaborate with employees and leaders across multiple departments.
The Director of Business Development will work closely with facility leadership and the interdisciplinary team to ensure business development, customer service, marketing, and community relations goals align with the overall mission and objectives of Western Slope Health Center.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
- Five (5) years of marketing, business development, public relations, sales, or healthcare-related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Healthcare marketing, skilled nursing, post-acute care, senior living, hospital, or other healthcare business development experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining professional referral relationships.
- Proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Experience developing and implementing marketing, sales, outreach, or business development strategies.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, residents, families, referral partners, and community members.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common business technology.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary leadership team.
- Professional demeanor and ability to represent Western Slope Health Center positively and professionally.
- Ability and willingness to participate in community events and healthcare networking activities.
