Overview:

The Archaeological Technician is responsible for conducting field and laboratory tasks in support of archaeological investigations and regulatory compliance. Working under the supervision of a Project Archaeologist, this role assists in survey, excavation, documentation, and artifact processing activities while helping ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

∙ Conduct archaeological field surveys, including shovel testing and site documentation, following established procedures and protocols.

∙ Collect and record GPS data for field observations and site locations.

∙ Clean, label, catalog, and curate artifacts in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.

∙ Assist with the maintenance, inventory, and organization of field and lab equipment.

∙ Support preparation of documentation, reports, and deliverables for cultural resource management compliance.

∙ Collaborate with team members to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all project tasks.

Qualifications:

∙ Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

∙ Completion of a university-based archaeological field school.

∙ Minimum of 3–6 months of archaeological field and/or lab experience preferred.

∙ Ability to work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions on a regular basis.

∙ Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, dig with hand tools, and stand for prolonged periods.

∙ Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 pounds, including field equipment, soil samples, or artifact containers.

∙ Willingness and ability to travel for field assignments as needed.

NOTE:

We are actively screening and interviewing qualified Archaeological Technicians to support current and future project needs. Many of these opportunities will be temporary, on-call assignments, with schedules and project durations varying based on client demand, location, and workload.
