Job Summary:
The incumbent supports the teaching, learning, and governance of educational services for REAL Academy students in grades 7–12. This role assists with the implementation and daily operation of programs that address students’ educational and treatment needs.
Working collaboratively with the REAL Team, the position supports the development and implementation of Educational Services policies, with a focus on the ongoing operation of the PFH Recovery Enhanced Alternative for Learning (REAL) Academy. The incumbent assists in the governance of the local REAL Center and supports staff, students, and service coordination.
As a member of a professional learning team, the Classroom Support staff member contributes to high-quality instruction, student support, and the successful delivery of educational and treatment services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Facilitates, supports, monitors, and teaches students for successful competition of assigned courses online, as well as blended/traditional instructional lessons, activities, etc
- Collects, maintains, and reports on attendance, invoicing, assessment, grades, transcripts, demographic information, treatment schedule, outcomes, and other as required.
- Work closely with PFH supervisors, school district personnel and others to communicate and coordinate efforts.
- Work closely with treatment teams to coordinate services and be the educational advocate for the students.
- Ability to take responsibility and work independently.
- And other duties as assigned.
- Represent the agency in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates interest in long term and short term goals and objectives of the company.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, or Executive Team member.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
- Certified teacher in Missouri/ or working on a teaching certificate with substitute certification current in the state of Missouri;
- Any four year combination of higher education and qualifying experience, or
- An individual with four years of qualifying experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of case management and rehabilitation methods, principles and techniques as they relate to mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of the problems encountered by persons with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders and how to access the various community resources available.
- Knowledge of the methods and modalities as well as the legal requirements and court procedures related to treating mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
- Some knowledge of supervisory and training techniques and practices used in a substance use disorders/mental health setting.
- Aptitude to evaluate services within assigned program and give input.
- Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to produce clear and concise reports.
