Job Title: Biomedical Scientist - Biochemistry Banding: Band 5/6 Location: Central England
Rate: £22 - £26 per hour DOE Start Date: ASAP Working Hours: Full-time | Rotational shifts including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join a well-established NHS laboratory in Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional to contribute to a busy laboratory service, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic testing and patient care within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
What will your responsibilities be:
- Perform routine and specialist laboratory investigations within Blood Sciences.
- Ensure accurate and timely analysis, interpretation, and reporting of patient results.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analysers in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Participate in quality management processes, including IQC, EQA, and compliance with UKAS and ISO 15189 standards.
- Support service delivery across a 24/7 laboratory operation, working a full range of shifts including nights and weekends.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and healthcare professionals to ensure high standards of patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist is essential.
- Previous NHS laboratory experience within Blood Sciences is essential.
- Experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using Roche Cobas analysers is desirable.
- Experience using laboratory information systems and middleware is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
