Staff Accountant - Wholesale Inventory

Job Description:

The Staff Accountant for Wholesale Inventory is responsible for providing accounting for Metroplex Energy. This includes analyzing, researching, and preparing financial information and reports to meet specific daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.

What You'll Do:

• Records journal transactions associated with wholesale fuel gross margin in accordance with GAAP, i.e. inventory valuation, cost of sales, transportation, storage, & other associated fees.
• Performs account reconciliations.
• Ensures Metroplex Energy, Inc. has an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Provides detailed monthly reporting to assist in business management and decision making.
• Analyzes and investigate variances during monthly flux both month over month and year over year.
• Assists in providing information for the annual audit.
• Continuous process improvement and documentation.
• Carries out ad hoc reports/assignments as needed.
• Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments, i.e. front and middle offices, treasure and tax.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of department wide plans, goals, and deadlines.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with a concentration in finance, accounting or related field of study
• 1-3 years accounting experience; preferably fuel experience
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
• Advanced experience using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
