Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Manufacturing Operations team as a Process Engineer in one of three locations: Lewiston, ID; Pullman, WA; or West Lafayette, IN. As a Process Engineer, you will identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, helping to increase efficiency, quality, and safety across operations. You will work closely with production and other teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and support day-to-day manufacturing activities. You will also use data and continuous improvement principles to help drive better performance and reliable results.

A typical day as a Process Engineer might include:

  • Providing engineering support in multiple areas of manufacturing.
  • Specifying, developing, justifying, implementing, and sustaining assembly equipment and materials.
  • Improving quality, yield, efficiency, and capacity of processes in accordance with strategic objectives.
  • Applying statistical problem solving to identify root causes.
  • Evaluating new equipment and processes and process improvement activities.
  • Interpreting results and providing recommendations to management.
  • Keeping abreast of new developments in equipment, industry standards, best practices, and developments in assembly processes.
  • Modeling, teaching, and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This job might be for you if:

  • You have a B.S. in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You have two years' experience in process development in a related world class manufacturing company.
  • You can lead a cross functional team.
  • You can influence others and reach consensus.
  • You have project management experience.
  • You have knowledge of statistics as applied to process capability measurements.
  • You have effective writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • You can work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • You have background check results satisfactory to SEL.
  • You have negative drug test result(s).

It is a plus if you have:

  • Thorough understanding of the materials used in the industry.

Pay Range: $89,400 - $134,100 annually

We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. We are looking to fill this position at the Process Engineer level, and we welcome applicants with a range of experience. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly.
